James Dolan Wins Dismissal of Claims in California Federal Court

In a recent development, James Dolan, the CEO of Madison Square Garden, has won a legal battle in California federal court. The claims against him by Kellye Croft, alleging that she was pressured into sex while working as a masseuse on a 2013 tour, have been dismissed by a judge. However, Croft still has the option to file an amended complaint by July 8.

Dismissal of Allegations

According to court documents, the judge ruled to dismiss the claims without prejudice, stating that there is “absolutely no merit to any of the allegations against Mr. Dolan.” This decision comes as a relief for Dolan, who has been battling the accusations made against him by Croft.

This is not the first time that James Dolan and his company, Madison Square Garden, have been embroiled in legal disputes. Previously, they were sued by former Knicks player Charles Oakley over an incident in 2017. Despite initial denials by MSG, Oakley’s case was dismissed twice by a Manhattan judge, only to be revived by an appeals court in 2023.

Following the court’s decision, Dolan’s spokesperson condemned Croft’s attorney, Doug Wigdor, for what they called a “vendetta” against Dolan and Madison Square Garden. In response, Wigdor’s firm expressed their intention to address the concerns raised by the court in an amended complaint.

New Lawsuit

Croft’s lawsuit, which accuses James Dolan and others of sex assault and trafficking, was filed earlier this year in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The outcome of this case remains uncertain, as both parties gear up for further legal proceedings.

James Dolan’s legal victory in California federal court marks a significant milestone in his ongoing legal battles. Despite facing allegations and lawsuits in the past, Dolan continues to defend himself and his company against all accusations. The dismissal of claims in this case provides some respite, but the legal saga is far from over.
