It is understood that the King’s message was in line with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s conversation with Mr. Trump. In their conversation, Sir Starmer condemned the violence, expressed condolences for the victims and their families, and wished the former president and those injured a speedy recovery.
Details of the Assassination Attempt
Mr. Trump, the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Despite the seriousness of the incident, Mr. Trump’s injuries were not deemed serious after being treated at a local medical facility. He later returned to his home in New Jersey.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Mr. Trump recounted the harrowing experience of being shot and acknowledged the immediate realization that something was wrong. He also expressed his gratitude and patriotism by saying, “God Bless America!”
Victims of the Incident
Tragically, three audience members were also hit by bullets during the assassination attempt. One of the victims, 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, heroically shielded his daughters and lost his life in the process. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was later killed by law enforcement.
