The Princess of Wales: Enjoying a Summer Retreat

As the Princess of Wales takes time away from official duties to continue her preventative cancer treatment, royal fans around the world are feeling her absence from the spotlight. Since her heartbreaking announcement in February, she has only been seen in public twice – at the Trooping the Colour parade in June and at the Wimbledon Championships in July. Despite expressing her wishes to return to royal duties as soon as possible, Princess Wales is taking advantage of the summer months to spend valuable time with her family.

Typically, the Princess and Prince of Wales, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, enjoy taking summer vacations abroad. St. Barths, Mustique, and the Isles of Scilly are among their favorite holiday destinations. However, this summer, the royal family is set to travel to Balmoral Castle, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved Scottish residence, where King Charles now resides. This iconic location has been a staple in the royal family’s summer plans, offering endless green spaces, horse riding, fishing, barbecues, picnics, and an abundance of sunshine.

The Princess of Wales will be joining her husband and children for their summer retreat at Balmoral Castle, marking a traditional getaway for the family. The 502-mile journey from Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to Balmoral Castle is set to be filled with memorable moments for the royal children. With Prince William and Prince Harry having spent many summers there during their childhood, along with Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, Balmoral holds a special place in the hearts of the royal family.

In May 2021, the Prince of Wales expressed his deep connection to Scotland, where he met his wife, Kate. Scotland holds both happy and sad memories for the Prince, as it was in Balmoral that he was informed of his mother’s passing. Despite the tragedy, he found solace in the Scottish outdoors and was able to create new memories, such as meeting his future wife. This summer retreat to Balmoral will surely bring back a flood of emotions for the royal family, reminding them of the importance of family and tranquility amidst royal duties.
